Why Must Roman Catholics Go to Mass Every Sunday?
In the Third Commandment, God tells us to “Remember to keep holy the sabbath day.” For the Jews, the sabbath was Saturday; Christians, however, transferred the sabbath to Sunday, the day of Jesus Christ’s resurrection from the dead. The Church tells us that we have an obligation to fulfill the Third Commandment by refraining from unnecessary work on Sunday and by participating in the Mass, our chief form of worship as Christians.

How to behave in a church?
A church is a place of worship, where people come to pray, meet Christ and build community around Him. We remind you of some rules that bind us in the house of God which respect and show reverence to these sacred places in our parish. Please come to the liturgy punctually. Closed bridges, detours, etc. can surprise you only the first time. Future lateness is caused mostly by laziness. Turn off your cell phone. Always! And don’t answer any calls. Your family and friends can wait for you. Holy Mass is more important – twenty years ago no one could call you during the liturgy and everything was OK. Please do not talk before the liturgy. You disturb others. Rather think about the liturgy and try to open your heart to peace and silence. We can hear Gods voice only in silence. If you have to leave for a short time for any reason, please, re-enter at the appropriate time and try not to disturb others. Don’t leave until a final hymn concludes.
As you leave after the liturgy don’t talk in the church. You disturb those who stay for prayer and adoration.
Please, do not chew any gum in the church. An appropriate place for dental hygiene is at your home. And please don’t stick chewed gum under pews!
A church isn’t a beach or a gym. Please dress appropriately to the solemnity of the place. Teach children to do the same.
Kids friendly room
It is wonderful to see young children in church with their families. Although we love your little angels, we know there are times when they just will not cooperate. We have a “cry room” located behind the altar to the right for just such occasions. Feel free to make use of it.
Small children need adult supervision when they use the restroom. Please accompany your small child if he or she needs to go.
Church envelopes
For families and individuals who are registered at Christ the Redeemer Parish to be in good standing, they must attend Mass at Christ the King or Sacred Heart Church on a regular basis and use the church envelopes. Regular basis is not less than 75% of the time. The use of church envelopes is the only way we can determine attendance. The amount of the donation in the envelopes is never a determining factor. The use of your envelope each week will tell us that you are attending regularly. This will avoid problems or embarrassments in the future.
